The "FloLouVie" Memorial Book Endowed Scholarship was established in 2021 by Ken Sharkey & Sharon Tufts in honor of Floyd & Lovie Sharkey and Louise Tufts.
A scholarship for full-time or part-time Lakeland students of color in their 3rd semester or more of enrollment with at least a 2.25 cumulative GPA. This scholarship will assist students to purchase textbooks.
A need-based scholarship awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College majoring in human services, with preference given to social work; and/or be a member of the Lakeland soccer team. Recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment. Preference may be given to Lakeland students who are enrolled in Lakeland’s Holden University Center programs.
The Albert J. and Carrie Barnabei Scholarship was established by Al and Carrie Barnabei in August 2010. The Albert J. and Carrie Barnabei Scholarship, which is aimed at supporting the work of AWT, the Alliance for Working Together, which encourages manufacturing companies to remain in this region, encourages students to enter college programs that prepare them for careers in manufacturing, and helps students and employers “connect.”
Al earned a BA Degree in Accounting from Franciscan University in Steubenville and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He is a Certified Financial PlannerTM certificant. He is a relationships manager at Key Private Bank where he is a “Personal CFO” to his clients.
Carrie earned a BS in Secondary Education specializing in mathematics and physical education from West Virginia University. She has enjoyed both coaching and teaching throughout her career.
Their fathers, Albert Barnabei and Peter Kozdras, are members of the “greatest generation.” They both knew the value of education and encouraged their children to take advantage of every opportunity provided them.
This scholarship fund is established in memory of Albert Barnabei’s and Peter Kozdras’s determined and long careers in the steel industry.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who major or demonstrate a strong interest in the areas of technology and engineering, and have career aspirations in the field of manufacturing. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree program. Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 after their first semester of LCC enrollment.
The Albert and Christine Barnes Endowed Scholarship was established by Albert and Christine Barnes in September 2014. The scholarship supports students enrolled in Lakeland Community College’s business curriculum.
This need-based scholarship awarded to full-time or part-time female students of Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in a Lakeland business curriculum. Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment. Preference will be given to students who self-identify as first generation college students.
The American Chemical Society Chemical Technician Certificate Scholarship was established in 2024 through grant funding from the American Chemical Society. The scholarship supports Lakeland students working towards an Associate of Science degree and/or a Chemical Technician certificate by covering the required tuition and books for taking Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II, and Quantitative Analysis as well as the newly esyablished internship course.
The American Legion Riders Post 112 Scholarship was established in 2021 by the American Legion Riders Post 112 in memory of Hal Sikula. Hal was a loyal member and friend to American Legion Riders Post 112 who passed away in October 2020.
A need-based scholarship for full-time or part-time Lakeland Community College students who are active US military, a US veteran or the child of a US veteran. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA after their 1st semester of enrollment and reside in Lake, Geauga or Ashtabula County.
The Andy Nowacki Memorial Scholarship was created in as a tribute to the memory ofAndy Nowacki, US Marine Lance Cpl. and Grand River Police Officer who heroically gave his life for his country while protecting a convoy south of Baghdad, Iraq. This scholarship will be held, by The Lakeland Foundation of Lakeland Community College, located in Lake County - where Andy lived and worked. This scholarship will be offered to students who exemplify Andy's compassion and service to his nation and community. A person, who has a passion for serving in law enforcement, and who, like Andy, possesses a positive attitude towards achieving successes in all his endeavors.
This scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in public service programs such as: Law Enforcement, Police Academy, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Technology — (EMT) paramedics certificates/programs, or health technology program.
The Angela Peric Scholarship, formerly known as the GTS Scholarship, was established by Lakeland’s longtime soccer coach, Djuro Peric, in 2002. The scholarship was established to financially assist students participating in the soccer team at Lakeland Community College. The fund was renamed in 2014 to honor the memory of Djuro’s wife Angela Peric.

The Ann M. Kennedy Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by John & Patricia Kennedy in February 2004, in memory of Ann M. Kennedy, to be held in perpetuity, in The Lakeland Foundation at Lakeland Community College, located in Lake County- where Ann lived and worked for most of her adult life. This scholarship is offered to young women, (age is a matter of perspective), who exemplify Ann’s' compassion to work with people and have a positive attitude towards achieving worthwhile goals.

The Arlene M. and Arthur S. Holden, Jr. Endowed Scholarship (formerly the Arthur S. Holden, Jr. Endowed Scholarship) was established in 1995. The fund honors Arlene M. Holden, past member of The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors. The fund honors the memory of Arthur S. Holden, Jr., founder and former chair of the board of trustees of Lakeland Community College and emeritus director of The Lakeland Foundation board of directors. The fund was established to assist deserving students attending Lakeland Community College.

Consideration will be given to a student's good moral character, integrity, leadership potential, and prior and current involvement in extracurricular activities and/or family responsibilities
The Aspen Dental Scholarship was established in 2022 by Aspen Dental in support of Dental Hygiene students at Lakeland Community College.
"Aspen Dental is the largest branded DSO in the US supporting close to 1,000 dentist owned offices in 43 states. We are proud to be able to extend that support to a dental hygiene student at Lakeland Community College through this scholarship."

This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College. Preference is given to students enrolled in Graphic Design and Business related Programs. Student must maintain a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 after their first semester of enrollment.
The Barbara Hauser Nursing Fund was established in 2024 by Barbara and Michael Hauser. The fund is intended to support selected nursing students in achieving their goal of becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) by assisting students in overcoming barriers which can impede program and licensure completion.

My name is Barbara Hauser. I was privileged to work at Lakeland Community College from 1990 to 2020. I loved working with Lakeland’s nursing students and did so as a clinical nursing instructor, a simulation instructor and as a nursing tutor for dosage calculation. Lakeland and its nursing students brought richness and joy to my nursing career. In the spirit of paying it forward, my husband Michael and I have established this fund to help Lakeland’s nursing students achieve excellence in their nursing careers as RN’s. The Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Scholarship was established by the Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Foundation in 1996 to honor the memory of James and Bessie Benner Metzenbaum.
The Metzenbaum Foundation was established by James Metzenbaum to honor his beloved wife for the benefit of needy children. The foundation seeks to perpetuate the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Metzenbaum who were dedicated to public service and to disadvantaged young people.

The Bob & Norene Sommer Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2021 by Christine Riley.
The Bob & Norene Sommer Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance to students interested in attending Lakeland Community College after high school graduation, who have participated in a college tech prep program in high school.
This scholarship is awarded to students who have participated in a College Tech Prep program during high school. Priority is given to incoming freshman students at Lakeland Community College. Recipients must have graduated high school with a minimum 2.5 GPA and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after the first semester of enrollment.
The Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local 16 & Northeastern Ohio Contractors Association Endowed Scholarship (formerly, the Lake & Geauga Masonry Promotional Scholarship) was established in June 1993 to provide financial assistance for the pursuit of an education at Lakeland Community College to students enrolled in any of Lakeland’s certificate or degree programs and who have demonstrated an interest in the labor union movement.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College. Primary consideration will be given to a member, spouse, children and grandchildren of Bricklayers Local 16 who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after the first semester of enrollment.
The C.R. Bard Endowed Scholarship was established through the generosity of the Bard Endoscopic Technologies of Mentor, Ohio in October 2003.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Lakeland Community College majoring in Engineering Technologies or Business programs who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Priority given to previous employees of the Bard Endoscopic Technologies.
The CLS Scholarship Fund of The Lakeland Foundation was established in 2010 to provide financial aid to Lakeland Community College students majoring in or focused on careers in the engineering technologies, especially in the areas of HVAC, mechanical and electronic engineering.
CLS provides HVAC, electrical, and lighting maintenance services including preventative maintenance, emergency service, and project management.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment and are City of Mentor residents who are seeking degrees in or academic concentration in engineering, technology, or related areas and are considering careers in those areas. Preference will be given to students contemplating careers in HVAC and electrical technologies.
The C.T. Consultants Scholarship Fund was established in 2010. The scholarship is intended to assist students pursuing education and careers in the engineering technologies.

The Cardinal Credit Union Scholarship was established by Cardinal Credit Union in May 2017.
Cardinal Credit Union has been providing financial services to employees of various companies and organizations in the Mentor/Cleveland area for more than half a century. The Carol J. Lowry Memorial Scholarship was established by Donald and Joan Selle, of The Stafast Foundation, in 1991 in memory of appreciated Stafast employee, Carole J. Lowry.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in Health-related programs and who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Special consideration shall be given to applicants with an illness or disability to self or family.
The Cathlyn Patterson Endowed Scholarship was established by Cathlyn Patterson in 2015.
Cathy Patterson retired after leading the Dental Hygiene Department at Lakeland Community College for over forty years. Lakeland graduates work throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond, and the Dental Hygiene program is viewed by professionals and by students as the premier program in Northeast Ohio. In addition, continuing education offerings are attended by hundreds of dental hygiene professionals every year. Overall, hundreds of students have been touched by Cathy’s work, and thousands of people have benefitted through the quality work that these graduates do every day.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College. Preference given to students who are graduates of the Lakeland Dental Hygiene program and are taking bridge courses in anticipation of completing a bachelor’s degree. If not candidates are available, funds can be awarded to students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment.
The Chardon Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by Lakeland Community College employees in remembrance and honor of the victims of the Chardon High School shooting which took place on February 27, 2012.

Chief James T. McBride (Commander Emeritus) BPA Endowed Scholarship was established by Chief James T. McBride in 2021. Chief McBride served as the Chief of Police ay Lakeland Community College for over 28 years.

The Christine & Shawn Riley Endowed Scholarship was established in 2023 to provide scholarship assistance to students interested in attending Lakeland Community College and majoring in paralegal studies.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who are seeking a degree or certificate in paralegal studies. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of LCC enrollment.
The Component Repair Technologies (CRT) Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by Tom Wheeler, owner of CRT, to benefit the dependent children of current CRT employees to help ensure that they receive the necessary education to enter the workforce.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 after their first semester of enrollment, are the dependent child of a current employee of Component Repair Technologies, Inc. The Darlene Strawser Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in Lakeland Community College’s Association of Arts Degree Program. The Donald J. Taverner Endowed Scholarship was created July 2004, in memory of Donald J. Taverner. This scholarship was established by Donald’s niece Eileen Doherty in honor of her Uncle Donald who died of heart failure in 1998. One of the great loves of Don's life was that of being a decorated, proud New York City fireman and EMT/Paramedic. This fund is established to provide opportunities to students enrolled in the Fire Science and the EMT/Paramedic programs at Lakeland Community College.

The Etta Roeder Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 by the Roeder family and the Student Clinical Laboratory Sciences Association in memory of Etta Roeder, former program director and assistant professor of the medical laboratory technology program at Lakeland Community College.

The Exchange Club of West Lake County Endowed Scholarship was established by the Exchange Club of West Lake County in 2007.

The Frank P. Lombardo, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Kay Lombardo and the children of Frank Lombardo in 2003.
The scholarship was established as a fitting tribute to Mr. Lombardo who served as a dedicated Trustee of Lakeland Community College from March 1985 to March 1990.

The Frank W. Milbourn, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established by the Milbourn Family in October 2010. The scholarship was initiated by Mr. Milbourn’s ten grandchildren to recognize his contribution to this community and to encourage Lakeland Community College students to succeed in courses of study that will prepare them for careers in engineering, technology and/or manufacturing.
Frank W. Milbourn, Jr. was a well-respected local businessman, civic leader and philanthropist. He then attended University School for 2 years of college preparatory classes before going on to earn his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Princeton University. His father bought Coe Manufacturing Company, located in Painesville, in 1919 and eventually passed the company down to his son. Coe made veneer lathes, dryers and construction plywood machinery and was one of the area's largest employers at the time. Frank worked at Coe in various capacities, ultimately serving as Chairman of the Board, a position he held until the time of his death. He was a staunch believer in the value and importance of a high-quality education. For that reason, he was involved in several education related endeavors including serving as a University School trustee, Lake Erie College trustee, Martha Holden Jennings Foundation trustee, and four years as a member of the Painesville City School Board. Although he was not officially involved in the founding of Lakeland, he was closely involved behind the scenes working with other local businessmen and friends who are credited with the founding of the college. He was also involved in numerous civic activities including the Lake County United Way, Lake County YMCA, First Church Congregational, Kiwanis, and Gyro, among others. This scholarship fund is being established to honor the legacy of our “granddad” as it relates to his belief in, and contributions towards, making a high-quality education more attainable and affordable for current and future generations of aspiring college students.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who major in or demonstrate a strong interest in the areas of technology, engineering or manufacturing (with preference given to students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree Program) and have career aspirations in one of these fields and who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 after completing their first semester.
The International Student Endowed Fund was established in 2012 by Dr. Frederick Law to promote international education and to benefit international students attending Lakeland Community College. The fund has two components: 1) scholarship assistance for international students, and 2) faculty assistance for projects that support, but are not limited to, curriculum development, student, or community activities to educate the students and college community about international education.
This non-need based scholarship is awarded to Lakeland Community College students that have completed at least 12 credit hours. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, be a degree seeking student and have entered Lakeland on an F1 student visa
The Futures Rising Scholarship was established as a part of the Futures Rising campaign to support student success. The scholarship fund is intended to support students in all academic areas.
This need based scholarship is awarded to for full or part time students of Lakeland Community College that maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA after their 1st semester of enrollment.
The Gary Gust Spiros Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2022 by Linda A. Spiros. This endowed scholarship fund is in loving memory of her beloved husband, and best friend, Gary, who was a graduate of Lakeland Community College.
Gary was an amazing, beloved, and fun-loving husband, father, and friend. Gary lived a very active and extraordinary life to the fullest. He was the quintessential perfect gentleman, kind, considerate, personable, generous, and gregarious. He was a confidante to many colleagues and friends; he was an all-around nice man.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in computer science, engineering, or information technology; or students seeking an Associate of Applied Business degree. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; and must have completed 12 hours of course work. Preference will be given to adult students entering college after being out of high school for more than five years, or first-generation college students.

The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 2020 by the Gene Haas Foundation to provide financial assistance to Lakeland Community College students interested in manufacturing-based careers.

The George Hayward VFW Post 9295 Scholarship was established in June 2010 by the George Hayward VFW Post 9295. This scholarship is intended to provide assistance to honorably discharged veterans attending Lakeland Community College.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 after their first semester and must be honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. armed forces.
The Geraldine Parker-Thrower Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Geraldine Parker-Thrower in 2005. Geraldine was an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Lakeland Community College for 18 years. On September 20, 2005 Geraldine’s life ended tragically as a result of an automobile accident on her way in to work. Geraldine’s philosophy for helping students was simple; If a student needed help, she helped them! It is only fitting that this scholarship be established in Geraldine’s name to assist the students at Lakeland Community College.

The Gertrude Cole Slotterbeck Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2003 to provide financial assistance to a Lakeland Community College student enrolled in a health technology field and who is living in a specific Lake County city or township. This scholarship is a tribute to the memory of, Gertrude Cole Slotterbeck by her niece, Joanne Cole Bhatta. Gertrude passed away on August 7, 2001.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in a Health Technology program who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and are residents of Mentor, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Painesville City or Township, Concord or Kirtland, Ohio.
The Grainger Scholarship was established in 2011 by the Grainger Industrial Supply Company, which is aimed at supporting the work of AWT, the Alliance for Working Together, which encourages manufacturing companies to remain in this region, encourages students to enter college programs that prepare them for careers in manufacturing, and helps students and employers “connect.” The scholarship is focused on providing financial aid to Lakeland Community College students who have career aspirations in the field of manufacturing.

The Green Scholarship was established in 2020 by Keyur Patel.
Keyur Patel is 2009 nursing program graduate of Lakeland Community College. He attended Lakeland as an international student. After graduating from Lakeland, Keyur went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ursuline College, a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in nurse anesthesia, and a PhD in anesthesia from Virginia Commonwealth. Keyur credits Lakeland as being the stepping-stone to his future career and wants to help Lakeland student achieve their dreams.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College that maintain a 2.0 GPA after their 1st semester of enrollment. Recipients must be enrolled in a STEM or healthcare program.
The Hal Lebovitz Memorial Endowed Scholarship was initiated by the generosity of Marie Lebovitz and The Journal Register Company. Scholarships were established in November 2005 at Lorain County Community College and Lakeland Community College for students interested in writing as a career. The endowed scholarships serve as a perpetual tribute to Hal Lebovitz, a longtime sportswriter and award-winning columnist who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Hal was the featured sports columnist for the News-Herald and The Morning Journal of Lorain. He wrote the popular “Ask Hal the Referee” column in which he answered readers’ questions about sports rules. He died October 2005 of cancer at age 89.
Hal was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed going to movies and plays. Hal jogged or exercised daily well into his 80s. He loved life and meant every word of his customary column sign-off, "Stay well and see you somewhere, I hope."

The Hannah's Home Scholarship was established in 2016 by Pamela and John Severa. Pamela retired from Lakeland in 2014 following over 24 years of service. She and her husband began new careers at that time as executive directors for Hannah's Home, a maternity home of single girls, and retired in 2016, The scholarship was established to assist Hannah's Home residents, or recent residents, with their academic goals.

The Harriet B. Storrs Scholarship was established by the Harriet B. Storrs Fund of the Cleveland Foundation to assist deserving students attending Lakeland Community College who are residents of Painesville Twp. or Painesville City, Ohio.

The Hawk Family/Mentor Woman’s Club Scholarship was established by the Mentor Woman’s Club in April 2009.
At the Club’s 50th anniversary dinner Dr. Thomas Hawk initially gave the Club $1000 to show his gratitude for its having granted him its first scholarship award of $350 in 1953. As the evening went on, he was increasingly impressed with the work of the Club and increased his donation by $5000; they later added an additional $1000. The first Hawk/Mentor Woman’s Club Scholarship was awarded in 1994.
Dr. Thomas J. Hawk was born in Painesville in 1936. He grew up in Mentor and graduated from Mentor High School in 1953. He attended Bethany College and enrolled in The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine at the end of his junior year; he completed his fourth year of college at Bethany “in absentia.” He was awarded his M.D degree in 1960. He held a number of positions before entering private practice in neurological surgery in 1968; he continued to practice both adult and pediatric neurosurgery and serve on OSU’s teaching staff until 2005. Additional activities that Dr. Hawk has been involved in include volunteer leadership positions with such groups as Red Cross and the Columbus Metropolitan Ballet Company; travel and sailing. He and his wife Jodi have enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes and a number of more exotic areas. They have five children – David, Tom Jr., Bill, Amy, Peter - and four grandchildren
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 after their initial year of enrollment, major in or demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a health-related career, graduated from any high school, public or private, located in Mentor, Ohio or must be a current resident of Mentor, Ohio, and must have completed the equivalent of one year of college and must be eligible to begin a second academic year.
The Heavenly Ham Endowed Scholarship was established through the generosity of Dennis Demshar, owner of Heavenly Ham in Mentor, OH, in 2000 to provide financial assistance for the pursuit of an education at Lakeland Community College to students who have at one point in their lives been in the custody of Lake County Department of Job and Family Services (foster care or residential services).

The Homer A. Cole Scholarship was established in 1995 through the Homer A. Cole Trust to provide scholarship assistance for students attending Lakeland Community College who previously attended high school while living in the city of Willowick.

The I.D. (Buddy) Jacobson Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 by David S. Jacobson, former chair of The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors.

The Jason Gresko Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012 in honor of Officer Jason Gresko.
Jason Gresko was born on February 2, 2012. He was known as a kind, funny and ambitious kid. He loved to watch and participate in sports. Jason grew up in Eastlake, Ohio, had four siblings, graduated from Eastlake North High School in 1999 and received his OPATA Certificate in 2002 from Cuyahoga Community College’s Police Academy. Jason expressed an early interest in becoming a Police Officer and was an active member of the Police Athletics League (PAL). His first job in the field was with the Village of Timberlake in 2002. He was hired by the Willoughby Police Department in 2003 and continued to work their part-time after he was hired by the Cleveland Clinic Police Department in 2006. Jason got married in 2004 and welcomed a daughter into the world in 2010. She was daddy’s little girl and he made sure everyone knew it. Jason was a devout husband, father, son and brother. He was a true family man that loved to travel, be outdoors and watch his brother play high school football. He was dedicated and proud of his profession, but at the end of the day, he couldn’t wait to get home to his two girls. On Friday, September 21, 2012, at age 32, Jason was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call to assist another officer. His cruiser collided with a pickup truck driven by a drunk driver who turned in front of him. Jason swerved to avoid the truck, but spun into a tree and was killed instantly. He is a hero. Jason sacrificed his life so that the four occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured.

The Jean Stevens Endowed Scholarship was established by Susan Arant in 2019.
Jean Stevens, mother of Susan Arant, was a teacher in the Lake County School System for 33 years. She taught at Melridge Elementary School and Auburn Junior High School. She loved to stay in touch with her students and to travel.

The Jeffrey A. Berzin Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 by Deborah (Berzin) Barton in memory of her late husband, Jeffrey, to provide support and encouragement for students majoring in radiology technology at Lakeland Community College.

The John B. Cole Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2020 in honor of John B. Cole, through the estate of Joanne Cole Bhatta. John B. Cole was a surveyor of the first campus buildings at Lakeland Community College.

The John D. Grampa Family Endowed Scholarship was established in June 2010 by John D. Grampa to assist Lakeland Community College students pursuing careers as police officers through the Lakeland Police Academy or Criminal Justice program.
John D. Grampa is Senior Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Brush Engineered Materials, Inc. of Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He has been active in the community. He has served on the board of the Lake County Economic Development Center and served as its chairman for a number of years. Mr. Grampa has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Community Improvement Corporation, the Lake Hospital Foundation, Leadership Lake County and the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, Mr. Grampa has served Lakeland Community College over the past 15 years as a member of the The Lakeland Foundation's Board of Directors, where he has been Chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr. Grampa establishes this endowed scholarship fund on behalf of his son Marcus, a graduate of both Lakeland Community College and the Police Academy. John and wife Jean have three adult sons and have been residents of Lake County for over 35 years, residing in Concord Township.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 after their first semester, demonstrate that they are pursuing a career in law enforcement, and are residents of Lake County, Ohio.
The John H. Langer and H Jack’s Plumbing and Heating Co. Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by John H. Langer to assist Lakeland Community College students majoring in Business Management.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students enrolled in Business Management. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after the first semester of enrollment.
The John J. Racic Memorial Endowed Scholarship fund was established in 2009 through the generosity of the Racic family, friends and through the Exchange Club of Western Lake County. John Racic was a founding faculty member of Lakeland Community College, starting his teaching career in 1967. He was a professor of mathematics. In addition, Dr. Racic was a long-time member and generous supporter of the Exchange Club of Western Lake County.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 after their first semester of enrollment. While this scholarship is open to any qualified Lakeland student, preference will be given to students majoring in mathematics or accounting, demonstrating special interest in mathematics or accounting or enrolled in mathematics or accounting courses.
The Joseph A. Cocozzo Endowed Scholarship was established in 2021 by Donna Cocozzo in honor of her husband, Joseph A. Cocozzo.
Joseph A. Cocozzo served on The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors from 2000-2019. He graduated from Kent State University with honors. He enjoyed his career in business and marketing and worked as the publisher for many newspapers across the country including the Lake County News-Herald. Joe loved all sports and was well-known at Lakeland for his expert golf swing. Joe believed in the power of education for everyone and was a champion for those who came or returned to college as nontraditional students.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to a nontraditional male student enrolled in their second year of study as a full-time or part-time student. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The Joseph Georgina Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by Pamela H. Georgiana in honor of her father, Joseph Georgiana.
Joseph M. Georgiana worked as a Chemical Engineer for both Diamond Shamrock and Avery Dennison in Painesville for more than 30 years. After retiring from Avery Dennison, he was employed by Lakeland Community College where he was a valued member of the Chemistry Department for more than 15 years. Joe loved working with Chemistry students in the labs at Lakeland. He would be proud to know that his commitment to science and education lives on through this scholarship.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College that maintain a 2.0 GPA after their 1st semester of enrollment and are enrolled in a science based major, including healthcare, Biotech, etc that could include Chemistry coursework with a preference for those areas of study that include advanced Chemistry.
The Judith & Charles Holmes Fund was established in 2020 through the generosity of Judith & Charles Holmes to address the needs of nursing students and by doing so, improve, increase the number of students who will graduate and become registered nurses.
Judith Holmes was in the first graduating nursing class at Lakeland Community College. Upon graduation, Judy dedicated her professional career to the compassionate care of others as well as research in the field of medicine. Judy and Charlie are interested in continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
This fund may be used for testing fees, transportation costs and other unforeseen emergency needs, which if not addressed, might jeopardize a student's ability to successfully complete their degree and certification. Funds will be allocated by the Director for Lakeland's Nursing Program (with input from the Director for FA and Enrollment Support)
The Judith A. Mazzeo Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2010 by the family of Judith A. Mazzeo in her memory.
Judy Mazzeo was a full-time professor in the Information Technology and Computer Science Department from 1982 until her death in 2010. Throughout her tenure, Judy served as a Lab Coordinator, Department Chair, Program Chair, and Staffing Coordinator. Judy devoted countless hours to her students, her colleagues, and her department with the selfless goal of helping others reach their fullest potential. She led acquisitions for the first instructional labs, created the first personal computer courses, developed the first distance learning courses, and coordinated the We Are IT Program for high school girls interested in pursuing a career in IT. In 2008, Judy was presented with the Lakeland Faculty Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to the college. The Judith A. Mazzeo Endowed Scholarship has been created as a continuous reminder of her achievements at Lakeland Community College. While she will be dearly missed by all, Judy’s kind heart, energetic spirit, and unconditional generosity will be forever celebrated through this scholarship fund.

The Judith A. Somppi Nursing Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Judith A. Somppi , RN to provide assistance for students enrolled in Lakeland Community College’s Nursing Program.
Judith Somppi was the epitome of a Registered Nurse – caring, compassionate, empathetic, dedicated, efficient and well educated. Her love and respect for people and her passion to help them live healthy lives contributed to her successful career. She lived her life, and treatment of patients and their families, by the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Judith devoted 32 years of her life to the care of patients at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Good Samaritan Hospital in Arizona, and The Cleveland Clinic.
Judith was a loyal friend who treasured her relationships. She was a gifted artist in watercolor, oil, and pencil mediums, Her personal gallery of art and collections brought joy to those who entered her home. Traveling the world was a highlight of her life. She had an emerald green thumb as reflected by her collection of decades old plants. She found sailing Lake Erie to be exhilarating, loved playing cards with friends and was proud of her Finnish heritage.
Judith’s legacy is healthcare: 1) the lives she touched and enhanced through nursing, and 2) the lives she will positively impact through the Judith A. Somppi Nursing Scholarship to assist future healthcare professionals in pursuit of their nursing careers.

The Junction Auto Family Scholarship was established in August 2010 through the generosity of the Junction Auto Family in Chardon, Ohio to provide financial assistance to Lakeland Community College students, preferably from Geauga County, pursuing a nursing degree.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 after their first semester. Student(s) from Geauga County who meet the criteria will be given preference.
The Kathy Comer Durchik Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Kathy Comer Durchik by her family and friends in 2017.
Kathy Comer Durchik was a graduate of the Lakeland Community College nursing program and of Mentor High School. Kathy believed in the importance of paying it forward and wanted to ensure that students with a desire to pursue a career in nursing had an opportunity to fulfill their dreams.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College majoring in Nursing. Recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment. Preference given to a graduate of Mentor High School or another Lake County High School if a Mentor High School graduate is not eligible.
The Katie Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 by Lillian Kinder, a Lakeland Community College nursing graduate, in memory of her daughter, Katie.
"The challenges of financing educational needs to meet career desires and life goals can seem overwhelming. I remember well. Life happens while you’re making plans and often what happens is not what you planned. The short life of my daughter, Katie, was spent in hospitals. During those two years, my days were spent interacting with professionals who cared for and cared about my daughter (the patient) and her family (me). Some years after losing Katie, I returned to school. I worked hard, received a scholarship and I have enjoyed a nursing career that has brought me many opportunities. It gives me joy to offer this chance to others. It gives me joy to honor Katie in this way." Lillian Kinder

The Kirk Endowed Scholarship was established in 2012 through the generosity of David and Mary Kirk.
David and Mary Kirk, residing in Concord, were the owners of Active Plumbing Supply with six locations in northeast Ohio.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled at Lakeland or in a partner program at the Holden University Center who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment.
The Kirtland Kiwanis Endowed Scholarship was established in December 2005 through the generosity of the Kirtland Kiwanis.
The Kirtland Kiwanis Club is part of a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Kirtland Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the local community through various service and fundraising projects. Their club has been in service to our community for more than 50 years. They are part of Kiwanis, an international organization serving children and the community since 1915.
This scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a GPA of 2.5 and reside within the Kirtland School District.
The LaMantia Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2021 by Joseph LaMantia in support of Lakeland Community College students majoring in Computer Science and STEM technology.

The Lake County Government Scholarship was established in 2018 with the assistance of the Lake County Board of Commissioners. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students to pursue careers that address Lake County’s workforce needs.

The Lakeland Community College Respiratory Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 with a donation by The American Lung Association of Ohio on behalf of a request by Charles Popelka, M.D. (deceased). Dr. Popelka was very dedicated to his profession and wished to assist in the future training of skilled respiratory therapists by providing financial assistance. This scholarship is a memorial tribute and honors Dr. Popelka for his dedication in this field.

The Lakeland Faculty Honors Opportunity Scholarship was established by Dr. Andrea Musial, Prof. James Dailey, Dr. Rebecca Grasser, and Dr. Matthew Hiner in September 2023 to help students with financial difficulties to assist with the full cost of membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Founded nationally in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the world’s largest organization specifically devoted to recognizing the achievements of honor students at 2-year institutions. The Alpha Psi Rho Chapter at Lakeland has been providing students with opportunities to earn scholarships, develop their leadership skills, and give back to their respective communities since 1993.

The scholarship is named in memory of Ernestine Jones Holman.

The Lewins Family Endowed Scholarship fund was established in February 2024 by William J. & Lisa A. Lewins, both former Lakeland Community College students, to support students at Lakeland Community College that were graduates of Riverside High School and/or Thomas W. Harvey High School located in Painesville, Ohio.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who are former students at Riverside High School or Thomas W. Harvey High School both located in Painesville, Ohio. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of LCC enrollment. Priority will be given to Lakeland students not currently receiving any Lakeland Foundation scholarship support.
The Lillian M. Lewis Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Mrs. Lewis through the generosity of Dr. Deborah Hardy to assist African American students in accessing educational opportunities at Lakeland Community College. Lillian M. Lewis, a single parent, was confronted with numerous barriers to education. However, her barriers became her motivation to promote education for her children.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after the first semester of enrollment. While the scholarship is open to any qualified Lakeland student, preference will be given to African American students experiencing substantial barriers to enrolling and succeeding in college.
The Lillian Moore Memorial & Gayle Moore-Lisi Nursing Endowed Scholarship (formerly the Lillian Moore Memorial Scholarship) was established in July 2010.
This scholarship was established through donations from family and friends in memory of Mrs. Lillian Moore. Mrs. Moore was employed with Lakeland Community College for 32 years and retired in 2001. Mrs. Moore had a special place in her heart for all nurses and the wishes of her son and daughter (Gayle Moore-Lisi) are to establish this scholarship fund to enhance nursing education at Lakeland Community College.

The Lori Ann Reigert, Class of 1997, Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 by John & Eileen Reigert in memory of their daughter, Lori Ann Reigert.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time students at Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in an Associate of Arts degree program. Preference will be given to students focusing on communications studies and active in extracurricular and services activities. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after successful completion of one semester.
The Lubrizol Foundation Scholarship was established in 2001 through the generosity of The Lubrizol Foundation to provide financial assistance to students enrolled at Lakeland Community College.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College studying a STEM based field. In addition the applicant must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and must have completed one semester of college.
The Malcolm & Johnsie Daisley Endowed Scholarship was originally established in 1992 through the generosity of the Daisley family in support of students at Lakeland Community College.
In 1957, Malcolm and Johnsie Daisley moved to Mentor, where they were drawn by the community, schools, and proximity to Lake Erie. Malcolm worked in Cleveland for Eaton Corporation as vice president of labor relations, and Johnsie was a homemaker.
Mal, as his many friends called him, was very involved in the community, serving as a board member of the YMCA, and was influential in the campaigns that lead to the Outdoor Family Center, among other improvements. His reputation as a business leader made him a great choice as president of The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors at Lakeland Community College (1983-86). He also served as a trustee of Dyke College, vice president of United Way Services, a trustee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio, and was on the board of the First Congregational Church in Painesville.
Supporting their daughters, Mal and Johnsie became active in the YMCA; they were part of the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club Sailing Fleet and members of the First Congregational Church. They also worked hard to make the Eleanor Garfield Park become a reality, and Johnsie spent many years as a volunteer secretary in the park office.
Valuing family and education, Mal and Johnsie supported the development of Lakeland Community College. When Mal died in 1988, Johnsie established the Malcolm Daisley Endowed Scholarship at The Lakeland Foundation, hoping to encourage students to study economics, business, and labor relations. In 2019, at the age of 94, Johnsie passed away and her name was added to the scholarship. Through the Malcolm and Johnsie Daisley Scholarship, we hope to encourage interest in continuing education and to support Lakeland Community College and its mission.

The Margaret B. Stubbs Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by Laura & Thomas Barnard in honor of Margaret B. Stubbs.
Margaret B. Stubbs, sister of Tom Barnard and sister-in-law of Lakeland's Provost Laura Barnard, passed on June 15, 2019. She worked as a child welfare specialist for over 20 years in Maryland at the state and local levels. This endowed scholarship fund is established in memory of her and in honor of the difference she made in the lives of so many children and families.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in a program leading to a degree or certificate in Human Services. Recipients must have taken a minimum of one human services course and must have achieved a 3.0 GPA in the human services coursework. The recipients must also maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after the first semester of enrollment.
The Margaret W. Wong International Student Scholarship in 2018 through the generosity of Margaret W. Wong to provide Lakeland’s foreign-born students with financial assistance that will allow them to fulfill their educational goals.
Margaret Wong has built Margaret W. Wong & Associates Co., L.P.A. into a firm nationally and internationally renowned for its knowledge in immigration and nationality law. Because of her personal experience as an immigrant, Margaret Wong combines qualities Americans admire: an immigrant's work ethic, an entrepreneur's drive, a keen sense of resourcefulness, and the utmost compassion for those in need. She has won numerous awards, including two for philanthropy - the Margaret Ireland Award from the Cleveland Women's City Club and the 1997 Creative Philanthropy Award from the Women's Community Foundation.

The Margaret Zelina Nursing LPN to RN Assistance Fund was established in 2021 by Alan J. Zelina in support of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) students in the final two semesters of the nursing program at Lakeland Community College.
Margaret Zelina lived a life of care and compassion for others. She epitomized the pillars of Lakeland Community College’s Caritas philosophy: compassion, altruism, competence, and growth. To honor her legacy of caring theMargaret Zelina Nursing LPN to RN Assistance Fund has been established by the Donor. The fund is to assist licensed practical nurses enrolled in the LPN to RN transition program to achieve their goal of becoming a registered nurse.

The Marine Corps League Endowed Scholarship was established in 1994 through the generosity of the Officers & Men of the Col. J.M. Chambers Detachment of the Marine Corps League in support of students at Lakeland Community College to honor those who have honorably served their country as United States Marines and Colonel Justice M. Chambers Detachment of the Marine Corps League members.
The Marine Corps League was established by Congressional Charter on August 4, 1937. Its membership is made up of individuals who are or have honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. The League is a fraternal organization established to preserve the traditions and promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps.
For nearly six decades the Marine Corps League, through its network of Department and local Detachments, fostered and developed innovative civic, social, and philanthropic programs through its dedicated volunteers.
In 1962, the Marine Corps established the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc. The National Marine Corps League also recognized that America's most precious resource is its children. To develop them requires a resource of another kind - access to education. The National Marine Corps League provides about ninety scholarships annually. Some Departments (State) and Detachments make financial aid available to its members and members' children.

The Mary Ann & Wimp Moyer Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by Mary Ann Moyer to memorialize Wimp Moyer's life-long support of education and the importance of pursuing an education in the lives of all no matter where one is in their life nor how young or old, they may be.

Recipients must be a Business or Nursing student, preferably referred by the LEAF (Lake Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation) advisors.
The Mary E. Burger Memorial Endowed Fund was established in 2021 in honor of Mary E. Burger to support Lakeland Community College students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program.
Mary E. Burger earned her associates degree in dental hygiene from Lakeland Community College in 1976. She spent 44 years as a dental hygienist at Western Reserve Periodontist in Beachwood, Ohio. She was passionate about her profession. She loved her patients like they were family, and always looked forward to guest lecturing at Lakeland & Case Western Reserve’s dental programs. Mary was a beloved mother, Gigi and friend. In her memory, Mary’s family has established this scholarship as a way to honor her passion, and provide assistance for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
A scholarship awarded to full-time or part-time students enrolled as a dental hygiene student at Lakeland Community College in good status.Use of this fund includes non-tuition related supports such as testing fees, transportation costs, and other unforeseen emergency needs, which if not addressed, might jeopardize a student's ability to successfully complete his or her degree and certification.

The McGuinness Nursing Endowed Scholarship was established in 2001 through the generosity of Mr. Raymond McGuinness in honor of his wife, Susan Tullai-McGuinness. This scholarship shall provide financial assistance for the pursuit of a nursing degree at Lakeland Community College to adult students returning to school after an absence between high school and college.

The Men's Resource Center Scholarship was established in 2002 and is maintained through donations from individuals and community organizations to financially assist the continuing education needs of men, especially those who are considering, or in the midst of, a career or life transition.

Preference will be given to men 25 years of age and older.
Mentor Recycling Environmental Management Project Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 to provide resources for students interested in pursuing an education and career in environmental sciences while attending Lakeland Community College.

The Meredith A. Ring Scholarship was created in 2022 in honor of Lakeland’s former Women’s Center director, Meredith A. Ring, and in recognition of 30 years of the Women of Achievement Awards. The scholarship benefits women who have overcome obstacles in order to get their education, or women who are committed to the ideals of“women helping women succeed,” and women who have an affiliation with the Lakeland Community College Women’s Center.

The Neil J. Ranney Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in August 1995 by Mrs. Helen G. Ranney to provide support, encouragement, and assistance to highly motivated persons to gain an education at Lakeland Community College.

The Nel Speros Endowed Scholarship was established in 2000 in honor of Nel Speros to support students at Lakeland Community College.
Marinel "Nel" Calhoun Speros was a civic activist who served on a committee of the League of Women Voters that campaigned in 1966 to create Lakeland Community College. She became an associate professor in biology when the college opened in 1967 and retired in 1982. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Denison University and a master's degree in zoology from the University of Pittsburgh. She died March 31, 1999. This scholarship was created by her family and friends as a memorial to her work and life.
Nel Speros was a smart woman who grew up in a society that found smart women threatening. She was a scientist at a time when that occupation was 'reserved' for men. She was continually nudged in the direction of careers that were both "appropriate" for women (nurse, secretary, lab technician) and not coincidentally subordinate to the male professional (doctor, executive, scientist). She continually urged her female students to set their goals high and to strive to reach them.
This scholarship is awarded to a female part-time or full-time student, enrolled in a degree program at Lakeland Community College that intends to pursue a BA or BS degree in the basic sciences and/or has a career goal as a primary professional such as a basic scientist, biologist, bio-scientist, chemist, scientific researcher, college professor, doctor, dentist, veterinarian, nurse (registered or above), allied medical professional or engineer or professional of similar nature. A resident of Lake County is the preferred candidate, but students from other counties may apply providing that they meet all eligibility criteria. New students need to have earned at least a 3.25 GPA in high school and continuing Lakeland students must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA throughout the terms in which she receives the scholarship.
The New Connecticut Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NCDAR) Veterans Scholarship is renewing a yearly scholarship to be given to a Lakeland Community College student who is an active-duty US military or a veteran in good standing with any US military service.
This need-based scholarship is for full or part time Lakeland students that maintain a 2.0 GPA after the 1st semester of enrollment. Recipients must be a a US citizen who is an active duty or a veteran in good standing with any US military service.
The Ohio Word Processing Society Endowed Scholarship was established in 1988 through the generosity of the Ohio Word Processing Society to assist Lakeland Community College students involved in programs and courses such as word processing, computer technology, secretarial, or other business-related courses.
This scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in Information Systems, and/or Business Management programs who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 after your first semester of enrollment.
The Olga Freitag Alumni Endowed Scholarship was established in 1994 to recognize Olga Freitag’s work in establishing the Lakeland Community College Alumni Association and to provide financial support to Lakeland Community College students. The agreement is being updated in 2010 to reflect both the new format for agreements used by the Foundation and to reflect additional changes desired by leadership of the Alumni Association.
Olga Freitag was a “lady with a mission” – to establish the Lakeland Community College Alumni Association and, later, the Association’s scholarship fund. Most of all she felt that alumni who are informed and organized could play a significant role in the college’s future. At the same time she worked hard to ensure that the college’s trustees, president, administrators and faculty knew about and worked with the Association to make a difference in the life of the college. She worked with the Alumni Association to promote her belief that Lakeland was the “number one” place to go to earn a two-year degree, to get started toward earning a four-year degree, to learn marketable skills or to simply enjoy “enrichment” courses. Olga Freitag was a special person who had a huge impact on development of the Alumni Association and on Lakeland Community College.

The Patricia L. and Kip Molenaar Endowed Scholarship was created in 2019 through the generosity of Kip Molenaar.
This need based scholarship is awarded to new and continuing students attending Lakeland Community College who do not qualify for federal or state financial aid programs based on the results of their FAFSA. New students must have at least a 2.00 GPA from high school. Continuing students must have at least a 2.00 GPA at Lakeland.
The Patricia Williams Wieland, R.N. Scholarship Fund was established in 2015 by Dr. Ralph Wieland to honor the memory of Patricia Williams Wieland, R.N., class of 1982. Dr. Wieland and his wife, Patricia, were involved in the life of Lakeland Community College and helped establish the rose garden at Mooreland Mansion. The scholarship fund is intended to provide opportunities to Lakeland nursing students in fulfilling their academic goals.

Patty O’Ryan Frantz graduated from Lakeland Community College in 1976. Her dream was to become a registered nurse. Following her graduation from LCC, Patty continued her studies in Florida, taking one class at a time while raising 4 children and working full time. After 30+ years, she was accepted into the RN program at Edison Community College in Florida but died from complications following a tragic car accident only one month before her classes were to begin. This scholarship is intended to assist other hard-working, determined students who share her dream.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in the Nursing Program who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 after their first semester.
The Pereyra Scholarship was established in 2018 through the generosity of Robert & Rachel Diehl in support of Hispanic first-generation college students at Lakeland Community College.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time Hispanic students of Lakeland Community College that maintain a 2.75 GPA or higher after their first semester of enrollment. Recipients must be first generation college student and have parents that are both Hispanic.
The Pipefitters Local Union No. 120 Scholarship was established in 1995 by the Pipefitter's Local Union No. 120, in Cleveland, Ohio, to provide financial assistance for the pursuit of an education at Lakeland Community College to students who are sons or daughters of a member of Pipefitter's Local Union No. 120.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 after first semester of enrollment and are a dependent son or daughter of a current or retired member of Pipefitters Local Union No. 120.
The Professor & Lake County Commissioner John F. Platz Good Government Endowed Scholarship was established in in 1996 to honor the accomplishments of John F. "Jack" Platz on his retirement from Lakeland Community College as Professor of Political Science and from public service after 24 years as a Lake County Commissioner. The scholarship provides tuition assistance for students studying political science, public services, and public administration.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Lakeland Community College majoring in political science, history or the public services (police, fire or the human services) who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are residents of Lake County, Ohio.
The Professor Barbara Garwood Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 by retired Lakeland Community College psychology professor, Barbara Garwood in support of students at Lakeland Community College.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time female students of Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in a psychology and/or other coursework in the behavioral science program. Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and must have earned 30 college credit hours.
The Raymond Q. Armington Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 in memory of Lakeland’s long-time friend and former trustee, Raymond Q. Armington, to provide support, encouragement, and financial aid to deserving students attending Lakeland Community College.

The Richard and Madeline Condon Endowed Scholarship was established by Susan Arant in 2019.
Richard and Madeline Condon, uncle and aunt to Susan Arant, started their own business with Stroh’s Beer. Richard, who never finished high school, and Madeline reached a level of success that allowed them to establish trusts for at least 19 nieces and nephews and other family members. These trusts allowed their family members to fulfill many of their academic and personal dreams.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to for first generation full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College that maintain a 2.0 GPA after their 1st semester of enrollment and are enrolled in the Entrepreneurship program.
Richard M. Osborne, Sr. Scholarship was established in memory of Robert M. Osborne, Sr. by Osborne Real Estate Services, LLC in August 2023.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in Welding and Fabrication Technology and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of LCC enrollment.
The Richard Tomchak Endowed Scholarship was established in 2009 through the generosity of the Tomchak family.
Richard Tomchak began his professional career at the Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland, Ohio in the Planning Department which became the data processing organization for the Cleveland Fed. After expanding his knowledge of technology and its application in business environments through positions at a number of varied industries in Cleveland, Mr. Tomchak's teaching career started at Chandler Technology as an instructor in the developing field of “data processing”. This experience would lead Richard to Lakeland Community College. Mr. Tomchak was among the first members of the faculty at the newly created institution. He would go on to serve the students and community for twenty-eight years, teaching full time in the Information Systems Department. Over the course of his tenure, Richard saw technology change from room- sized computers to devices unimagined in usage, diminutive size, and processing capabilities. Throughout the evolution of the technology and business environments, Richard maintained his skills by continually working in private industry. Richard was always adapting to and learning new technologies so he could pass on knowledge to his students, thus providing them with the tools and skills so many used to develop their own careers. Richard fully appreciated the contribution Lakeland Community College made in the lives of his own family and the difference education makes in the lives of so many.

This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in any academic area or have career aspirations in any area although preference will be given to students enrolled in information technology or related academic areas who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 after their first semester of enrollment.
The Robert Rispoli Endowed Scholarship was established by Jerrie Lee Rispoli in 2018 in memory of and to honor her husband, Robert.

But more importantly, he was a husband, father, and grandfather with endless energy. His grandchildren remember him as welcoming and warm to all people. They remember his passions for downhill skiing, of which he was an instructor; for attending their school activities, from sports to scholastic competitions; for golfing, walking on a sunny beach, refereeing high school volleyball, collecting movies—a love which he passed on to a couple of them—and late-night pillow fights. In his spare time, he enjoyed designing and building homes for his family.
Robert loved life. He never stopped learning, he never stopped teaching, and he always looked out for others.

The Robert W. Jaynes Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in November 2014 to honor the life of Robert W. Jaynes, Lakeland psychology professor. Bob joined the college as a full-time Psychology instructor in the fall of 1971 and was promoted to full professor status in 1994. Bob was instrumental in the success of countless numbers of students via his long-standing course, The Psychology of Effective Study. Students and colleagues knew they could find Bob on campus several hours of almost any day - he noted once that he felt it important that students could rely on knowing that he would be here well beyond his posted office hours. Bob was involved in many aspects of Lakeland Community College over the years including the LFA Executive Committee, the Degree Review Task Force, and the Academic Standards Committee.

The Romeo D. Pallante Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011 to honor the memory of Romeo D. Pallante.
The late Romeo D. Pallante was a larger-than-life personage whose influence over the musical community was profound and lasting. Conductor, composer/arranger, educator, adjudicator, jazz saxophonist – Ro’s interests and talents, both musical and non-musical, were far-reaching. This scholarship is being created to memorialize Romeo Pallante and to provide financial assistance to deserving Lakeland Community College students involved in and aspiring to continue involvement in singing/chorus.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 after their first semester of enrollment and may be enrolled in any academic area or have career aspirations in any area although preference will be given to students showing an aptitude and interest in Lakeland"s choral music ensembles with willingness to be involved (subject to audition) for a period of at least one semester. Consideration may also be given to students enrolled in music classes/private lessons or instrumental ensembles.
The Shannon L. McBride Ladies Volleyball Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by the family of Shannon Lee McBride as a testimony to her zest for life in September of 2003. Shannon passed away at her home on July 29, 2003.
The primary objective of this scholarship is to assist and support one individual each year that appears to be most like Shannon. The annual scholarship award will go to a student playing on the Lakeland Community College varsity girls Volleyball team who excels in sportsmanship, leadership, talent and scholarship and who best exemplifies Shannon's unique personality and competitive spirit to be awarded in conjunction with the college's annual ladies’ volleyball regional tournament.
This scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Lakeland Community College who are members of the Women's Volleyball Team and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
The Sharon L. LoPresti Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by James M. LoPresti in memory of his wife Sharon who was a 1975 graduate of the Lakeland Community College Dental Hygiene program. Mrs. LoPresti passed away in May 1999.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time students of Lakeland Community College who are enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program and who maintain a minimum a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
The Sherry K. Sowerby Early Childhood Teacher Education Scholarship was established in 2001 to award financial assistance towards tuition and books to students enrolled in Lakeland Community College's Early Childhood Education Degree Program. The scholarship honors Lakeland Community College's long time faculty member, Dr. Sherry K. Sowerby, who retired in 2001.
This scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program who maintain a minimum a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Recipient must be entering the semester of their student teaching to be eligible.
The Stam, Inc. Scholarship was established in 2008 through the generosity of Stam Inc.. in support of Lakeland students majoring in manufacturing, engineering, technology and related areas.

The Sustar Manufacturing Scholarship was established in 2020 by Roger Sustar and his family to encourage and support students pursuing education and eventual employment in the manufacturing industry.
This scholarship is awarded for full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a 2.0 GPA after their first semester of enrollment. Recipients must be a US Citizen seeking a degree or certificate in Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology (CIMN), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MECT) or enrolled in the Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology Machining Processes course (CIMN 1110), in which the scholarship will help support the cost of that specific course.

The Lakeland Foundation Fund for Student Assistance Scholarship was established in 1995 by The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors to provide need-based assistance to Lakeland Community College students facing immediate financial difficulties.

The Source Diagnostics/Marchand Family Radiologic Technology Scholarship was established through the generosity of Source Diagnostics LLC and the Marchand family. The scholarship will be used to provide scholarship assistance to students enrolled in Lakeland Community College’s Radiologic Technology Program.

The Thomas J. Markowski and James R. Leach Scholarship was established in 1995 by the Markowski family in memory of Thomas J. Markowski and James R. Leach. A full scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who possesses and maintains at least a "C" grade point average. The predominant criteria in making the award shall be the perceived likelihood that the award winner will in his or her lifetime contribute to the betterment of society and mankind as a whole, and the award winner's perceived commitment to excellence.

The Tim Kling Memorial Chemistry Scholarship Endowment was established in 2006, in memory of Timothy Kling, Lakeland Faculty member, in support of Lakeland Community College students interested in the field of Chemistry and Chemistry related fields and who exemplify Tim’s compassion.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 are enrolled in advanced Chemistry classes and are pursuing an education in a Chemistry related field.
The Todd W. Latz Criminal Justice Endowed Scholarship was established in 2000 as memorial tribute and to honor former Lakeland Community College’s patrol officer, Todd W. Latz to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in Lakeland Community College’s Law enforcement/Criminal Justice programs.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in the law enforcement criminal justice program who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 after their first semester of enrollment.
The Tsengas Foundation Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by Dr. Steve Tsengas to provide support for Lakeland Community College students majoring in business management.

The Wayne L. Rodehorst Endowed Fund for Arts Scholarships was established in 2012 by The Lakeland Foundation as a tribute to the accomplishments of Lakeland’s first president, Wayne L. Rodehorst to recognize and advance his love of the arts. During his tenure as president, Dr. Rodehorst directed the construction of the performing arts area. On May 19, 2013 the performing arts center was named The Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center in his honor.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College enrolled in one or more applied or studio course/s in the arts, to include visual arts, music, dance or theater. Recipient must maintain a cumulative overall GPA of 2.0 and a 3.0 GPA for arts courses after the first semester of enrollment.
The Weinberg Scholarship was established in 2012 through the generosity of Robert & Laurel Weinberg to assist students at Lakeland Community College.

The Western Reserve Occupational Health Nurses Scholarship was established in 2020 through the generosity of the Ohio Western Reserve Association Occupational Nurses Inc. in support of students at Lakeland Community College.
The Western Reserve Occupational Health nurses was an organization of Occupational health nurses who were in Lake, Ashtabula, or Geauga County. We focused on providing care to the employee focusing on health, wellness, safety and case management of the ill or injured worker.
This need-based scholarshipis awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College's Nursing program. Students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA after completion of 1 year in the Nursing program.
The Willis P. Kern Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 to provide support and encouragement to highly motivated persons to gain an education at Lakeland Community College.
This need based scholarship is awarded to a full or part time Lakeland Community College student. Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and major in education.
Willoughby Junior Women’s Club Scholarship was established in 2009 by the Willoughby Junior Women’s Club to provide scholarship assistance to a Lakeland Community College student, with preference given to a woman, currently residing in Willoughby, Ohio.
The need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students of Lakeland Community College who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after their first semester of enrollment and are current residents of Willoughby, Ohio. Preference will be given to women students.
The Winn Patrick Cunningham Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 by Sheila & Winn Cunningham as a tribute to the memory of their son, Winn Patrick Cunningham, who passed away at the age of 16 in August 1995. This scholarship provides financial assistance to a student who plays baseball or softball while attending Lakeland Community College.
This scholarship is awarded to students who are currently a member of the baseball or softball team while attending Lakeland Community College and who maintain a 2.0 GPA.
The Wuliger Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by members of the Wuliger family.

The Wynette Barnard Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011 by friends and colleagues of Wynette Barnard in honor and celebration of her retirement from Lakeland Community College. Dr. Barnard began her employment with Lakeland Community College in 1994 and retired from her position as Senior Vice President for College and Community Relations in 2010.

The ABM Student Success Fund was established in 2021 by the ABM Industry Group in order to address the needs of students and by doing so, improve, increase the number of students who will graduate from Lakeland Community College.

The Beth Cassella Occupational Therapy Assistance Program Fund was established in 2024 through the generosity of Beth Cassella to address the needs of occupational therapy students and by doing so, improve and increase the number of students who will graduate and become occupational therapy assistants.
The fund is intended to support selected Occupational Therapy Assistant Program students in achieving their goal of becoming an Occupational Therapy Assistant by assisting students in overcoming barriers which can impede program and licensure completion. The Fund will be used to support students enrolled in the last two semesters of Lakeland’s occupational therapy program.
This fund may be used for:
First Priority: Incidental transportation costs, (Needed to facilitate arrival at required clinicals, study sessions, and on campus requirements. This will take the form of a gas card or bus fees), Parking fees at clinical sites, childcare to support study efforts such as study groups, on campus requirements, clinics, tutoring, and independent study sessions, and miscellaneous such as books, exam fees, supplies, etc., (will require prior approval and must be directly aligned with program completion).
Second Priority: Equipment needs to help assist with student training.
Funds will be allocated by the Director for Lakeland’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Program (with input from the Director for Financial Aid and Enrollment Support.)
The Bob Kenyon Men’s Resource Center Program Endowed Fund was established in 2022 by Robert Kenyon in order to address the needs of the male students and by doing so, increase the number of students who will graduate.
Robert Kenyon is an alumnus of Lakeland Community College, graduating in 1978 with an Associate of Arts degree. He has a passion for Lakeland Community College as well as helping those in need. Bob is interested in continuing to make a positive impact in lives of others.

The Chuck Frank Music Education Fund was created in 2017 to enhance music education at Lakeland Community College and to promote music education and music appreciation for students of all ages in Lake County.
Charles M. Frank retired from the faculty at Lakeland Community College where he served as professor of music and department coordinator for 16 years. Prior to his tenure at Lakeland, he taught for 13 years in the Wickliffe City Schools, where he developed outstanding marching, concert and jazz bands that received state and national recognition. Mr. Frank has served as an Ohio Music Education Association adjudicator as well as a guest conductor and clinician throughout Ohio and taught for several summers at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan. He was the executive director of the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby from 1987-1998. Mr. Frank was responsible for organizing the Lakeland Jazz Festival in 1973 and the Lakeland Summer Music Camp in 1979. He founded the Lakeland Civic Band and has served as conductor and music director for 40 years. Mr. Frank received the Lakeland Community College Distinguished Service Award for a member of the community at Lakeland's commencement on May 10, 2008.
This need-based scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students studying music at Lakeland Community College and/or the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby. Students must be enrolled in a music or music appreciation course. Preference may be given to students indicating a major in music or the arts.
The K. Michael and Louise Benz Endowed Fund was established in 2022 by K. Michael and Louise Benz to support the programs and activities of the Lakeland Nonprofit and Public Service Center, or any future entity that encompasses the work of the Nonprofit and Public Service Center in whole or in part.
Mike Benz serves as an Executive in Residence for Lakeland Community College providing strategic and business expertise to the Lakeland Nonprofit and Public Service Center. In addition, he is executive advisor to Ciuni & Panichi, Inc., Fifth Third Bank Affiliate Director, Northeastern Ohio, and ReCreation Patners, LLC, Vice Chairman. Prior to his retirement, he was United Way of Greater Cleveland President and CEO for 17 years. Currently, he chairs the South Pointe Hospital Board of Directors – a Cleveland Clinic Hospital, and serves on the Leadership Center Board of Directors and Executive Committee and Engage Cleveland Board of Directors.
Among his many awards and honors, Mike has served as the Cuyahoga County Community College Foundation master of ceremonies for their Presidential Scholarship Luncheon. In that role, he introduced President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, and Magic Johnson. He has been inducted into the Wickliffe High School Hall of Fame and the Wickliffe City Hall of Fame for Achievement. He was recognized as SME Businessman of the Year and he received the Gordon E. Heffern Lifetime Award for Ethics, Values and Community.
Mike is a Clevelander and his work reflects his passion for this community. He was instrumental in bringing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to Cleveland and served as the museum’s director.
Louise, by profession was an elementary school teacher. She was the driving force in raising five accomplished children as well as volunteering at St. Gabriel Church, school, and parish festival. She created a blanket ministry for babies and seniors and she and many of her friends made and distributed these blankets in Lake and Cuyahoga Counties. She is an avid Quilter and she sews as well as does other crafts. She works hard to stay up with the 16 grandchildren. Louise guided the construction of 3 homes all in Lake County. Louise graduated from Mayfield High School and Kent State University with a B.S. in Education.
Mike and his wife, Louise, married 52 years when this was created, support numerous charitable organizations in Northeast Ohio. They care deeply about others and want Lakeland to continue to Make a significant difference in educating and training people in Northeast Ohio.
The Lakeland Community College Photography Program Fund was created in 2021 by Alan J. Zelina to assist the Lakeland Photography Department in engaging students in the art of photography as a tool for self-exploration and education.

Lake Effect Radio is an internet streaming broadcast station owned and operated by Lakeland Community College. With the studio located on the Lakeland main campus in Kirtland, Ohio, Lake Effect Radio operates on a non-stop schedule with an effective radius all over the world.

TheMusic Elevates Endowed Fund was established by the Elevation Group in November 2022 toprovide annual support to musical arts programming at Lakeland Community College.
The Roy E. Smith and Lucia O. Smith Family Arts and Culture Education Fund was created in 2017 to enhance arts and culture education at Lakeland Community College. The fund was established by gifts from Roy Smith in honor of his parents.
The purpose of the fund is intended to be flexible so that it can support a wide variety of arts and culture education opportunities and appreciation for Lakeland students and for the community.

The Society for Rehabilitation Endowed Fund was created in July 2022 by Ellen Foley Kessler and Richard Kessler in support of Lakeland Community College's Student Accommodation Center. The mission of the Student Accommodation Center is to remain in compliance with applicable laws and to offer students with documented disabilities reasonable accommodations which provide access to all of Lakeland's programs, classes, and activities. Each accommodation is tailored to meet the needs of the individual student. The Student Accommodation Center recognizes each student's right to be treated with dignity and respect and encourages students to move toward increasing independence and responsibility in their academic life.
