The Lakeland Community College Police Department makes every effort to maintain current information concerning the registration of sex offenders. If offenders move into the county and fail to report changes of address, or otherwise fail to comply with registration laws, information may be inaccurate. Therefore, the Lakeland Community College Police Department makes no expressed or implied guarantee of accuracy of the information provided. Changes may occur at any time and without notice. The Lakeland Community College Police Department assumes no liability for damages, directly or indirectly, as the result of errors, omissions or possible inaccuracies.
The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention, enacted on October 28, 2000, went into effect October 28, 2002. The law requires institutions of higher education to issue a statement advising the campus community where the law enforcement agency information provided by a State concerning registered sexual offenders may be obtained. It also requires sex offenders already required to register in a State to provide notice, as required by State law, of each institution of higher education in that State at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation, or is a student.
Sexual Offenders are required to notify the Sheriff of the County in which they will reside per the Ohio Revised Code, Section 2950.04. The Lake County Sheriff's Department informs the Lakeland Community College Police Department of sexual offenders that are registered in Lake County. To view a complete listing of sexual offenders in Lake County visit the Lake County Sheriff's Department website and click on sexual offenders.
In addition, all persons convicted of violations under the laws of the United States or any other State substantially similar to an offense for which registration is required shall provide to the local agency all necessary information for inclusion with an Ohio County Sheriff within seven days of establishing a residence with the Ohio County. Any person required to register shall also be required to re-register within seven days following any change of residence, whether within the County or any other County.
Classifications of sexual offenders can be found at the Ohio Revised Code website
