Lakeland Community College is committed to preparing students to live and work in a global society and economy. The Center for International Education is the main clearinghouse for the planning, development, and administration of programs to establish multicultural awareness on campus and in the nearby community. It serves as a channel of communication between Lakeland Community College and institutions abroad and fosters academic cooperation with individuals and organizations.
Lakeland Community College offers an international studies certificate that provides students with a broad base of understanding of the many influences that affect the modern world and global economies. Subject areas include history, politics, geography, economics, religion, and languages. Courses can transfer to other colleges as general education credits. Certain courses further transfer into Cleveland State University's International Relations major. Students should consult with the Counseling Center before registering for classes.
Lakeland Community College has established formal relationships with the University of Rouen and CESi (Ecole d'ingenieurs), both in France, for study abroad opportunities and shared programming. The Center for International Education collaborates with The Ohio State University Center for Slavic and East European Studies and the Cleveland State University Center for Slovenian Studies on a variety of projects and events.
