LEARNING CENTER

*Special Notice as of March 17, 2020

Greetings from Lakeland's Learning Center.

Nothing matters more than the well-being of our college community. Students are at the center of everything we do. The learning center is committed to doing all we can to keep our tutors and students healthy and safe. With this in mind, we have temporarily moved tutoring, study tables and coaching online. Tutoring for math, accounting, biology, chemistry, computers and IT, English, nursing, physics, psychology and the writing center, is available to all students using Webex. When you make an appointment to meet with a tutor online, you'll receive an email confirmation in your student email account with a link to join the meeting. We encourage you to give it a try!

The steps to make an online appointment are the same as when you make an in-person appointment. Log in to myLakeland, click the Student Tab, click Schedule It, click Schedule a Tutoring or Writing Center Appointment, and follow the prompts!

Student success navigators will continue taking appointments. These appointments will be done through WebEx. If you want to make an appointment with a navigator, or if you have a question or problem scheduling a tutor appointment, please call us at 440.525.7019. If we don't answer, please leave a message with your name and phone number and we will call as soon as possible. Stay well, friends! We'll get through this together.

The Lakeland Learning Center is committed to providing equitable and quality academic support services to help students strengthen the skills and mindsets necessary to improve learning and promote academic independence as they work to achieve their educational goals.

Tutoring

FREE tutoring is offered by professional tutors as well as well-trained and faculty recommended peer tutors. Students have the ability to schedule appointments one week at a time, when they need it rather than committing to a semester long tutoring session. Click here to view available tutoring hours.

Writing Center

Students collaborate with consultants to improve their ability to communicate their ideas in writing – all types of writing and all subjects. Students do not drop off their papers to be proofread, but work with the consultant to improve their writing skills and learn from their mistakes. Click here to view hours of operation.

Math in Minutes

Students receive walk-in help with math. Students work at their own pace on assignments and tutors circulate to answer questions. The table is staffed by professionals as well as high level math students who have been recommended by faculty and have trained with our professional tutors. Click here to view hours of operation.

Study Skills Coaching

Study skills coaching is one-on-one personalized support for students who want additional help with success strategies, including time management, goal setting, organization, learning style, test taking, reading comprehension, note taking, study skills or basic computer skills. Success coaching is free and by appointment. The coaches can work around student schedules to make it convenient. Register now!

eTutoring

eTutoring Online is available for students in online courses, students who are unable to come to campus for tutoring or students who can benefit from extra help.
