Outcomes & Performance

The mission of modern languages at Lakeland is to offer students at Lakeland with college-level instruction in the area of Modern Languages and Cultures; including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Slovenian and Spanish.

Upon successful completion of coursework, students will:
  1. Spoken communication: Students will use spoken communication in a target language at an elementary level.
    1. Use the phonetic system of the target language at the elementary level.
    2. Use vocabulary of the target language at the elementary level.
    3. Use grammatical rules of the target language at the elementary level.
    4. Understand elementary oral samples of the target language.
    5. Use the appropriate level of formality for conversation in the target language at an elementary level.
  2. Written communication: Students will use written communication in a target language at an elementary level.
    1. Use vocabulary of the target language at the elementary level.
    2. Use grammatical rules of the target language at the elementary level.
    3. Understand elementary written samples of the target language.
