Academic & Career Pathways in CCP

CCP students are eligible for a variety of academic and career pathways that can lead to further education and career goals.

Academic Pathways

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, earning an associate degree leads to higher salaries and increases the likelihood of getting hired. Completing an associate degree before transferring to a four-year university can increase the likelihood of completing a bachelor's degree, save students money, and improve their earning compared to students who transfer before completing an associate degree. Students who complete an associate degree will also satisfy all requirements for Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36).

Lakeland Community College has over 140 Degree and Certificate programs!

Career Pathways

Now, CCP students are able to earn credits toward job-ready certification making them employable in high-demand jobs immediately after high school! Obtaining a certification in one of these in-demand fields is important in today's competitive market. CCP admission criteria for these select technology programs include a grade-point average of 2.75 or better and a "B" or better grade in high school English.

Students with 2.75 GPA and a "B" or better in high school English will only be able to take classes within the certificate program they choose.

The following programs offer Ohio Department of Education approved industry-recognized credentials.

Please contact the Lakeland CCP Office at CCPinfo@lakelandcc.edu if you are interested in one of these certificate programs.

Transfer Information

The Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways (OGTPs) enable students to streamline credit transfer among the state's public institutions of higher education to find the best pathways to degree completion and launch successful careers.

The OGTPs are designed to provide a clearer path to degree completion for students pursuing associate degrees who plan to transfer to an Ohio public university to complete their bachelor's degree. The OGTPs also constitute an agreement between public community colleges and universities confirming that community college courses meet major preparation requirements and will be counted and applied toward the bachelor's degree. Students still must meet all university program admission requirements.

A student who completes all of the coursework within a major-specific Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathway (OGTP) will be eligible to earn an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science degree from an Ohio public community college. The completion of the OGTP will be recorded on the student's transcript, and upon transfer to an Ohio public university, all coursework taken as part of the pathway will transfer to the university toward the completion of a bachelor's degree in an equivalent field.

Students are encouraged to communicate transfer plans early and consult with a counselor to discuss the options available through the Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways.
