INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International student applicants seeking a Form I-20, "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status must apply and submit the required documentation.

Documentation must be submitted no later than June 15 for the fall semester and no later than November 15 for the spring semester; students cannot be admitted for the summer term.

Once all required documents have been received and admission to the college is approved, Lakeland will issue an I-20 to the student.

Application Requirements for F-1 International Students
First-Time Applicants Requesting an F-1 Visa (not currently in the United States)

Step 1: Apply for Admission

All new students need to apply online at lakelandcc.edu/apply for admission to Lakeland Community College. There is no fee to apply.

Step 2: Submit High School Transcripts

All new students are required to submit a final, official high school transcript showing graduation date, school seal and school representative signature.

Step 3: Submit Proof of English Language Proficiency (English Language Proficiency Exempt Countries)

Submit official scores dated within the past two years from test date of one of the following:

IELTS 6.0 or above
ACT 18 or above (in English)
SAT 480 or above (in Evidence-based Reading and Writing)

Step 4: Submit Copy of Valid Passport.

Step 5: Submit Proof of Financial Support

Submit proof of financial support to cover tuition and living expenses for one year in the amount of $20,500 USD (effective fall 2024; the number of your dependents will increase this amount):

  • Bank statement in student's name or in the name of student's sponsor indicating a minimum balance of $20,500 USD (effective fall 2024; the number of student's dependents will increase this amount). This statement must be dated within six months from the start of the semester and must include the bank's contact information.
  • Sponsor's Affidavit of Support
    • U.S. sponsors must submit an original notarized Affidavit of Support (Form I-134).
    • Foreign sponsors must provide a written statement indicating their relationship to the student and specific intended contributions towards the student's expenses. View a sample sponsorship letter.
Students Currently Holding a Valid F-1 Visa (transfer from another U.S. post-secondary institution)

Step 1: Apply for Admission

Step 2: Submit High School Transcripts

Step 3: Submit College Transcripts

All new students are required to submit an English-translated official transcript from current post-secondary institution. Lakeland's preferred independent credit evaluation organizations are World Education Services (WES) and Educational Perspectives. All costs associated with foreign transcript evaluations are the student's responsibility and arrangements for payment must be made directly with WES or Educational Perspectives.

Step 4: Submit Proof of English Language Proficiency (English Language Proficiency Exempt Countries)

Step 7: Request Transfer of I-20 from Current Post-Secondary Institution

Students must contact and request current post-secondary institution to transfer valid I-20 to Lakeland from Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Lakeland's SEVIS school code is CLE214F00272000.
