GEOGRAPHY AND GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY

Our alumni and students have great success in securing employment after graduation from Lakeland and securing internships while students in our program. Students complete a 100 hour supervised internship with a geospatial employer or nonprofit organization as a requirement in the AAS degree program in Geospatial Technology, the Geospatial Technology certificate, and in the sUAS (drone) certificate programs. Pre-internship requirements focus on a set of career preparation skills: resume writing and revision, job shadows, networking at professional events, and practice interviews. As of Fall of 2022, about 90% of the internship positions have been paid positions. For examples of typical internships, see the interactive map of internship employers.
