Lakeland's Marketing and Communications department markets the college and distributes information through effective, accurate and efficient communication. Coordinated with academic and non-academic departments alike, this work is done through consistent, quality messaging and materials developed in an integrated manner.

The department supports the college's objectives as they relate to student success, access and affordability, financial capacity, quality services, and educational opportunity. We provide integrated marketing and communications services including: advertising; brand management; direct mail; in-house printing; public and media relations; message, design and publication creation; digital and social media marketing; video production; and website management.

As a resource for digital, print and TV journalists to do their jobs, Lakeland Community College provides news and information on a wide range of topics that are unique to higher education:

  • The successes and challenges of being a college student at any age – from teens, to coming back to finish college or retool for a new career.
  • Workforce development and how it ties to our business community in Greater Cleveland and beyond.
  • Subject matter experts (SME) – Faculty in their field of study are available to provide expert analysis for your story. Popular topics include business, entrepreneurship, health care,  manufacturing and student success.
  • Students – College students can provide you an in-depth perspective on their experiences. Examples include military veterans, single moms coming back to school or those overcoming health or economic challenges.

All of the college's print, production and mail needs are facilitated through the production center.

Outgoing mail must be in the mail room for processing no later than 2 p.m. Mail leaves campus at 2:30 p.m.

The production center (room C-10) is restricted and closed to all foot traffic. Production center jobs and mail will be available for pick-up in the mail room (C-8) daily. Incoming mail is available for pick-up after noon (12 p.m.), Monday – Thursday. Mail received over the weekend is available for pickup after 7 a.m. Monday. The mail room is locked and accessible with your Lakeland ID.

Authorized Closing Information Reporting Stations

Any information regarding the Lakeland main campus and/or off-sites broadcast on any other radio or television station is unauthorized and might be inaccurate. The college assumes no responsibility for college closing information on any unauthorized station.

Possible Closing Procedures

In the event of an emergency or severe weather, one of the following options may be taken:

  1. All Lakeland sites remain open: all classes and activities are held as scheduled at all sites (main campus, Holden University Center).

  2. All Lakeland sites are closed: all classes and activities are cancelled at all sites (main campus, Holden University Center). TV/Radio/Website listings will appear as: Lakeland CC - All Campuses.

  3. Lakeland main campus is closed only: all classes and activities at the main campus in Kirtland are cancelled. TV/Radio/Website listings will appear as: Lakeland CC - Main (Kirtland).

  4. Holden University Center is closed only: all classes, activities and events at Lakeland's Holden University Center are cancelled, including University Partnership classes and Lakeland classes held at the Holden University Center. TV/Radio/Website listings will appear as: Lakeland CC - Holden University Center.
     
  5. Mooreland is closed only: all activities and events at Mooreland are cancelled. Clients will be contacted individually.

  6. Lakeland remains open but individual University Partners cancel classes: The individual University Partner is responsible for notifying its students. Lakeland can assist when provided with closing information.
  7. CCP students must attend their Lakeland classes if college classes are in session, even if their high school has a snow day. Students enrolled in CCP courses at their home high school will follow the district closings.
Additional Information on Closings

The announcement that all Lakeland sites, the Lakeland main campus, Holden University Center, or Mooreland is closed means that all classes, activities and events are cancelled at the site(s) identified. This includes all special events, college offices and noncredit Continuing Education classes.

If an emergency occurs in the early morning hours, a decision to close the campus will be made prior to 6 a.m. whenever possible.

If an emergency occurs during the school day necessitating the closing of the Lakeland main campus and/or the Holden University Center or Mooreland for the remainder of the day and evening, an appropriate announcement will be reported to the authorized stations and Emergency Closing Hotline at the earliest possible time.

Non-exhaustive Religious Holidays & Holy Days

In accordance with Ohio's Testing Your Faith Act (O.R.C 3345.026), students may request accommodations for up to three days of absences each semester for reasons of faith, religion, spiritual belief or organized activities connected to their religious denomination, church, or other religious/spiritual organization. The Lakeland Network Info The Lakeland Network Info

The Lakeland Network (TLN) airs on Time Warner Cable channels 21 and 95 (cable box) or channels 96.21 and 96.95 (digital conversion box).  The Lakeland Network is a fully programmed Public, Educational, Governmental (P.E.G.) access channel that operates on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) day-a-week schedule as a community service to Lake County viewers.

TLN's objective is to provide educational and informational programming that will contribute to our viewers' knowledge about our college, our community and our world.

Lakeland produced programming:
Lakeland Community College Bulletin Board – The college produced bulletin board announces college information and events.

Commencement – Each year Lakeland Community College's commencement ceremony is aired so everyone in the community can share in our pride as we celebrate another graduating class.

Knowledge Exchange – These Lakeland produced shows are hour long presentations on a wide variety of topics – from hiking the Appalachian Trail to concerns regarding the Zika Virus.

Management Lecture Series – The Lakeland business management department coordinates leaders from some of northeast Ohio's most prominent businesses and institutions to share their expertise with Lakeland students and the general public in this forum.

Siemens Lecture Series – This Lakeland produced series was created to fill the need for a public forum to discuss new and emerging technologies and other current topics in the engineering, manufacturing and entrepreneurship industries. 

Other externally-produced programming:
Deutsche Welle Global 3000 – Looks at the issues that are moving us today, and shows how people are living with the opportunities and risks of globalization.

Deutsche Welle In Good Shape – Covering all aspects of health care: what's new in medical treatment, alternative medicine, wellness and fitness – as well as nutrition and beauty.

Deutsche Welle Tomorrow Today – Focuses on current topics in research, and is aimed at anyone who is interested in ongoing projects in Germany and Europe.

Eat Well, Be Happy – A cooking show aimed at bringing back the pleasures of the table with fresh, seasonal, and colorful ingredients used in simple recipes.

Fast Forward – In production for 25 years, this half-hour series discusses the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

The Folklorist – A NewTV's Emmy Award-winning television series that offers a captivating look at some of the lesser-known occurrences in our history.

The Garage with Steve Butler – An artist and furniture maker, with more than 20 years of experience, Steve Butler shares how to make fun and funky projects without all the fancy expensive tools.  

Howard Hughes Medical Institute – A series of science-based lectures discussing variety of topics from dinosaurs, our planet, to the human brain.

The Kamal Show – Is a unique show about authentic conversations with real people who are technologists, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, and authors, but also ordinary people who have done extraordinary things.    

Language of Business – In this series, Greg Stoller, successful businessman and teacher in the MBA Program at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, speaks with entrepreneurs, both local and throughout the world about their companies, how they started them, and how they continue to grow them. He uses the prototypical business plan as the inspiration and touchstone of these conversations. 

Money Talks – Host Jack Bevilacqua's reaches out to the community with financial information helpful to everyone, at every stage in their lives. His 40 years of experience in the financial services profession have given him insight into which issues matter most to young families, retirees, and small business owners.

Moore Movies – Join Mary Moore and Greg Bizjak for amusing discussion and reviews of the the latest releases.

Nasa 360 – Looks at all things NASA, from our changing climate to deep space exploration to human exploration on Mars. Get an inside tour of your space agency. 

Nasa X – Created around NASA technologies, NASA X introduces viewers to cutting edge science, technology, engineering, planetary exploration, aeronautics and space exploration.

National Gallery of Art – Covering a range of topics from ancient art to the twentieth century and studies of individual artists.

Painting Journeys – Features the artist, Kitty Lynne Klich painting the location, in oils, as she shares her painting process and tells the viewer about her experiences on that journey.

White House Chronicles – Showcases talented Washington print and radio reporters with guests and topics that range from politics, to foreign affairs, to business and the economy, to technology.
