 Music Databases
Music Databases	To find information on your topic in any of the databases listed below, search using relevant keywords such as "free form jazz" or improvisation AND jazz.
Databases require a few key search strategies to give you the best results:
1. Boolean Operators- AND, OR, NOT
composition AND concerto - narrows search by inclusion
Beethoven AND concerto OR symphony - expands search by inclusion
Chopin AND composer NOT author - narrows search by exclusion
2. Quotations- search for phrases using quotes
"chamber ensemble" searches for a specific music topic, instead of the database searching for the words "chamber" and "ensemble" separately, which would return much broader results.
3. Truncation- use * at the end of a root word to search for multiple endings; compos* retrieves results for composer, composed, composition
