Posthumous award of degree. At the request of a parent, guardian, spouse, domestic partner or lineal descendant of the decedent, Lakeland Community College will award an associate degree posthumously to an eligible student.
Eligibility. An "eligible student" for purposes of this policy is a student who was in good academic standing at the time of death, in a degree program, and who had entered the second year of the associate degree program and completed no less than seventy-five percent of the degree requirements prior to their death.
Posthumous certificate of recognition. For those students who are not eligible students as provided by paragraph (B) of this policy, a parent, guardian, spouse, domestic partner or lineal descendant may apply for a posthumous certificate of recognition upon application to the office of the provost. Such request must be made in writing.
